The Blake Hotel opened in January 2019 designed by HVS Design and Alexander Waterworth Interiors. Inspired by New Haven’s forward-looking spirit, The Blake sits at the intersection of past and future in one of America’s oldest towns. Our namesake, Alice Blake, was the first female graduate of Yale Law School. Modern and cozy, refined yet familiar, The Blake is a boutique hospitality space where you’re meant to live your best life. The New Haven hotel embodies the concept of local luxury, a philosophy rooted in community, aesthetics and comfort. The boom in the biotech industry in New Haven, Connecticut is driving the demand for contemporary boutique accommodations. Hence, the new upcoming similar projects within the area.
Natural materials and deep textures contrast strong industrial elements, creating a carefully structured struggle for balance. This kinetic aspect energizes the design without losing the overall sense of comfort and warmth. – HVS Design
In each of the 108 rooms, rust-colored velvet seating and plush headboards with wide channel stitching contrast stark white walls. Dark walnut and mahogany furnishings with metal accents echo the interplay of raw and industrial materials. Long-term stays are encouraged by fully stocked kitchenettes in both the suites and the guest rooms.
